Top 5 Posts on Online Branding – Week #31

Online Branding

Online branding has been much prevalent before arrival of Social Media. Companies had websites and they would leverage bulletin boards and offline events to promote it.

But cut to this day, online branding will have to be a mix of website + social promotion. Add to that, a potent mix of SEO and one could have the best presence on the web.

Well, that was my understanding till last week, so I went out on the web to seek some more ideas about what others thought about online branding and how are they approaching it.

The first article was pretty good with the very first point mentioning what you want to be “perceived” as. That I believe should always be the first point in any online branding strategy. Unless you are not clear what you want to be known as online, you may not be able to portray that through the online behavior.

Secondly, in most of the posts I found a lot of emphasis on Social Media. While that is quite important, the way you handle your social media presence is equally important. Many folks and brands I know have resorted to unethical means to build there presence on social media which in my opinion is not the real way of doing it. There cannot be a quantitative RoI on social media and you should treat it more as an ‘engagement channel’ and build the follower base organically to do online branding.
