#Blab2Learn Recap – How Social Media is Changing Content Ownership

Blab2Learn Content Ownership

This week on Blab2Learn we decided to talk about changes in content ownership due to social media.

We intended to have this show along with our guest Dr. Robert Picard, but due to some technical challenges he couldn’t join and we ended up discussing the topic with rest of our participants.

The participants had some amazing views to share about content ownership and it ranged from how beneficial it is for voluntary organization to how it’s tough for brands and government to control content ownership issues.

My co-host Dr. Falguni Vasavada-Oza observed that while social media gave brands a much needed reach, it also caused brand infringement issues.

On all of these, my take was, it’s easy for smaller brands to be safe from content ownership issues, but when they get bigger, the sheer size and scale make it difficult for them to protect themselves. Many of them let such issues go by as the time and cost that is lost on chasing such issues is much higher.
