Google AuthorshipThe news coming in was that the Google Authorship team has been dissolved. Now we’re not sure what it means, but I still see that Authorship is here to stay and you should claim one soon.

And why am I saying so??

My opinion, it’s more than SEO benefits. It’s about personalizing your content and personal branding is the key.

With so much content that is spread over the web, it makes perfect sense that your content stands out and gets attributed to you. And Google Authorship helps to do just that. With a ‘rel=author’ tag, with your Google+ Profile link and few other steps, you can easily claim your content.

While, I have heard multiple folks telling me that –

Google Authorship is still not a ranking factor

So obviously, there are not specific SEO benefits yet, but then there are few others who also say that it having Authorship makes your content index faster.
