SEO Trends for 2013 [Infographic]

SEO Trends are ever changing. What worked in 2012 might not work effectively this year. We are almost in the middle of the year 2013 and I thought it would be a good time to revisit the SEO Trends for 2013.

Over the last six month, I have worked on few of the strategies mentioned here and have seen almost 30% increase in my traffic. I am sure, you too would benefit by taking note of each of the following and re-working your SEO Strategies.

SEO Trends 2013 Revisited

1. Quality of Content

The recent Panda and Penguin updates still tells you to focus on Quality of Content. Share fresh information and do not scrape content, write regularly – each of these will ensure that the search spiders do not penalize you.

2. Author Rank

Author Rank is one of the most important SEO Trend for 2013. While Google takes a while to assigns scores, it’s important that you leverage G+ and ensure quality backlinks. Do make sure you claim ‘Authorship’ over your content. Here’s an excellent article on Authorship.

3. Mobile Response

We are not debating here, the future is definitely mobile. According to this Cisco study, there has been a 12-fold increase in mobile internet traffic since 2o00. So without a doubt, you need to get your content mobile NOW!

4. Content Marketing

While you write great content, it is essential that it reaches the intended readers. According to this study at TopRankBlog, 91% of B2B marketers use content marketing. So, it’s essential that you leverage the multiple marketing channels at your disposal – Social Media, Blog, White-papers, Podcasts, Newsletters, etc

5. Localization

Add local information to your content. Much of the consumers are looking forward to take services from brands nearby their location. And with 40% searches being done with local intent, it’s imperative that you prepare content with localization strategies.

6. Social Signals

The recent Panda, Penguin updates have a lot of emphasis on your social signals – Google +1, Facebook Likes, Twitter Shares, Comments, etc. Each of this signals enhances your ranking and it’s ability to reach the top.
